INITIAL COURSES (Asbestos)
AHERA ASBESTOS BUILDING INSPECTOR

This 3-day (24 hours) training course provides technical information needed to identify and describe asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM) and to write a comprehensive asbestos inspection report.
This course is the initial training for persons involved in the inspection of buildings for the presence of asbestos-containing materials, proper sampling and analysis of suspect materials and preparation of site inspection reports documenting the presence of asbestos. Exam.
This 2-day (16 hours) training course is an extension of the Building Inspector training and teaches how to prepare and update an asbestos management plan. A current AHERA ASBESTOS BUILDING INSPECTOR certification is a prerequisite for attendance to this course.
This course prepares you to develop a schedule (or plan) for implementation of response actions to hazards or potential hazards identified in the inspection report, assist in budgeting, and how to develop an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) plan.
Upon completion of the Inspector training, this is the initial training for persons who will be responsible for the review of inspection reports, the assessment of hazards, and the development of a management plan for control of asbestos in a building. Exam.
This 3-day (24 hours) training course teaches how to design response actions and abatement projects.
It also covers basic concepts of architectural design, engineering controls and proper work practices as required by the regulation. This initial training is for persons who will be responsible for the design of asbestos abatement projects. Exam.
AHERA CONTRACTOR/SUPERVISOR

This 5-day (40 hours) training course is for persons who supervise asbestos work site activities.
An accredited AHERA CONTRACTOR/SUPERVISOR is trained to provide supervision and direction to workers performing response actions and assure all activates are in compliance with any/all Federal/State/Local regulatory requirements. Supervisors may include those individuals with the position title of foreman, working foreman, or leadman. At least one supervisor is required to be responsible for the worksite at all times while response actions are being conducted. Exam
AHERA WORKER

This 4-day (32 hours) training is for workers involved with the abatement of asbestos.
The course content provides instruction on personal protection, state-of-the-art techniques and hands-on training. The focus is on practices and procedures, personal protective equipment, health effects of asbestos exposure, and other information critical to individuals who work in an abatement area with hazardous materials. Exam.
This training is for maintenance and custodial workers involved in general maintenance and asbestos-containing material repair tasks.
The job may involve repair or removal of a small amounts of ACM or ACM debris. This training generally lasts at least 14 hours.
AWARENESS

This training is for maintenance and custodial staff involved in cleaning tasks where ACM may be accidentally disturbed.
CLASS II WORKER (ASBESTOS CONTAINING PIPE, FLOORING, ROOFING, ETC)

This (8 hours) training is for work with asbestos containing roofing materials, flooring materials, siding materials, ceiling tiles, or transite panels/pipes. Such course shall include practices and procedures, personal protective equipment, health effects of asbestos exposure, “hands-on” training and other information critical to individuals who work in an abatement area with asbestos containing materials.

AHERA MANAGEMENT PLANNER REFRESHER

OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE REFRESHER (2 Hours)

This refresher training is for maintenance and custodial workers involved in general maintenance and asbestos-containing material repair tasks and have already attended an Asbestos O&M (2-Day) course.
The student’s workplace involves repair or removal of a small sections of ACM or ACM debris.

LEAD COURSES
EPA RENOVATION, REPAIR & REPAINTING (RRP) INITIAL (8 Hours)

This course was developed by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to train renovation, repair, and painting contractors how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule, and HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule. Hands-on Exam.
EPA RENOVATION, REPAIR & REPAINTING (RRP) REFRESHER (4 Hours)

OSHA LEAD SAFE WORK PRACTICES

Employees who are potentially subject to exposure to lead on any day or who are subject to exposure to lead compounds which may cause skin or eye irritation. This training is for employees that work with lead containing products. Training is in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.62.

INITIAL COURSES (Non Asbestos & Lead)
HAZWOPER

This training applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees. This includes any employees who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances — including hazardous waste — and who are engaged in operations as specified by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v).
This training will provide entry level construction workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a construction site. The training covers a variety of construction safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a construction site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not just OSHA standards.
The 30-hour Construction Outreach Training Program is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. The 30-hour outreach courses provide a greater depth and variety of training than the 10 hour course, on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards in each industry. Training will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not just OSHA standards.
